Respect. He also related with those who shared similar ideology and world view with him. He related with Rex Jim Lawson well. What about the likes of Ebenezer Obey, King Sunny Ade?He related with them very well even though he was much more senior to them in age and experience. King Sunny Ade who is so great today was for some time under the tutelage of my late father who brought him to Lagos from Osogbo where the two of them were born. He (King Sunny Ade) was always keeping my father’s boxing kits while they were in Osogbo. You mean your father was a boxer too?Yes, he did when he was much younger. Is it true that your father was close to the late Fela Anikulapo-Kuti?Yes! They were very close friends. Fela used to come to our house and whenever he did, the two of them would go into my father’s room to chat and smoke and discuss whatever they wanted to. My father was the only musician Fela accorded the respect of playing in his shrine. Another musician who was close to my father was the late Alhaji Ayinla Omowura. What could have brought them together?I think that Fela saw that my father was an activist like himself. My father advocated for the rights of Nigerians through his music. My father loved Ayinla Omowura because he felt his music was unique. He also loved Alhaji Kollington Ayinla whom he saw as an activist too.Would you describe the problem he had that eventually took him to the prison?Yes!What actually happened? My father was very close to the late Dele Giwa who was a friend to him. Giwa investigated a drug related story that eventually killed him. This story is known to all but my father in mourning his friend sang about it with a warning that those involved in his death will eventually meet their waterloo. This didn’t go down well with the powers that be then who decided to look for something to nail him with. How did he feel about his detention? He didn’t betray any form of negative feeling. He was merely doing what was assigned for him to do. He was used to it. He even made many friends in the cell. Please follow and like us:

To those chosen “according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to be obedient to Jesus Christ and sprinkled with his blood.”Photo credit: ©Getty Images/Oleksandr Hurtovyi What Does the Bible Say about God? God is described as “the Father” in many places throughout Scripture, and many people think of God as male. Jesus called God his “Father” and referred to God as “He” and “Him” during his time on earth. But in truth, God is the Great I Am and the Almighty, creator of the universe and all that is within it, and is therefore bigger than gender or other human constraints we try to give him. Still, I refer to God as my “father,” for it is helpful to me.In fact, in Isaiah 66:13, God compares his tender love and care to that of a mother, noting, “As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted over Jerusalem.” And in Job 38, God compares himself both to a father and a mother, asking, “Does the rain have a father? Who fathers the drops of dew? From whose womb comes the ice? Who gives birth to the frost from the heavens when the waters become hard as stone, when the surface of the deep is frozen?” (Job 38:28-30).The most important thing the Bible seems to say about God is about his love, his power, his might, and his everlasting nature. Over and over, we have stories about God as master and protector, who not only created this world but had enough care and mercy that he rescued and redeemed his people in various ways, ultimately sending his son, Jesus, as their path to salvation. In Revelation 21:6, God calls himself “the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End.”The Bible also gives us various names for God that describe aspects of his nature: El Shaddai (Lord God Almighty), El Elyon (God Most High), Adonai (Lord, Master), El Roi (God Who Sees Me), Jehovah Rapha (God Who Heals), and many more.In Psalm 68:5, God is called “a father to the fatherless, a defender of widows.”Isaiah 40:28 says God is “the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.”James 1:17 refers to God as “the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”And in Ephesians 4:6, we’re reminded God is “Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.”Photo credit: ©Getty Images/bruev What Does the Bible Say about Jesus? Similarly, the Bible has a lot to say about who Jesus is. We know Jesus is the Christ, the promised and long-awaited Messiah, and the Son of God. The

Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.3But when you give alms, let not your left hand know what your right hand does:4That your alms may be in secret: and your Father who sees in secret himself shall reward you openly.5And when you pray, you shall not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.6But you, when you pray, enter into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret shall reward you openly.7But when you pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.8Be not therefore like them: for your Father knows what things you have need of, before you ask him.9After this manner therefore pray: Our Father who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.10Your kingdom come. Your will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.11Give us this day our daily bread.12And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.13And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.14For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:15But if you forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.16Moreover when you fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.17But you, when you fast, anoint your head, and wash your face;18That you appear not unto men to fast, but unto your Father who is in secret: and your Father, who sees in secret, shall reward you openly.19Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust does corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:20But

The
