First time user so excuse the stupid question....I've down loaded a map from this site and tried to run MapInstall, but it seems that MapInstall cannot find the down loaded map. Where do I need to place the map for MapInstall to find it. The specific error message is "No unlocked maps were found for this device." Any thoughts? Since you say you are using Garmin Express, I will assume your nuvi 650 has a purchased numaps update that you purchased for it since the nuvi 650 never came as a nuvi 650LM model with lifetime map updates included. If the nuvi 650 does not have a numaps map update purchased for it, any attempted update will fail.The nuvi 650 has two issues that will complicate a Garmin City Navigator North America map update: 1) the nuvi itself doesn't have the storage capacity for all of North America; and 2) the nuvi 650 (one of the nuvi 6xx series) can not read files larger than 2GB in size and the current map file for all of North America is larger than 2GB.The procedure for updating your 650 with all of North America that I think will work is to:1) Use Garmin Express to update the nuvi itself. I was still unsure if I could use Mapinstall to install specific regions of the Europe map directly to my Nuvi. I have done this the last time I upgraded my North America map. Before inserting my Europe SD micro map, I connected my Nuvi to my MacBook, and started Garmin Express. There was a new version of my North American map. I opted to install on both Mac and Garmin. Of course, not enough memory on my Nuvi to install, so it offered to install a partial map (Western N/A is what I chose). I was wondering if this type of option was available for the Europe purchased map, I still don't know the answer. The partial map that was installed filled up the memory in my Nuvi. I will likely reinstall a custom selection with MapInstall for the provinces and states I want. I haven't inserted the SD micro Europe card yet,I think, for others with limited storage, the solution is to install on Mac/PC only with Garmin Express, then install the regions you need directly to your device. Not sure it this option will work with purchased maps. It won't. A separately purchased and downloaded map cannot be installed to your computer.
