The first way is to find one of the items—a song or video—and double-click it to start playing it; iTunes will display a dialog box asking for you to authorize the computer. (Note that only videos or older, DRM-saddled music purchases from the iTunes Store will request authorization.)Authorize iTunes by entering the required information in this dialog box.The second way is to choose Store > Authorize This Computer. In the Apple ID Summary section of your account screen, look for Computer Authorizations, and click Deauthorize All. Hello Im using an older macbook pro late 2013 model running Big Sur 11.7.10. Im able to sign in my apple ID in to the music app but when i try to authorize my computer i get the error "There was a temporary problem completing your request. Try again later" is there a work around for this issue?[Re-Titled by Moderator] Posted on Dec 8, 2024 8:15 PM Posted on Dec 10, 2024 8:19 AM OP, try using Retroactive, it's an app on GitHub, it's been recently discontinued but it still works on Big Sur, you can use it to install an older version of iTunes and authorize there, then you can delete iTunes and still have your computer be authorized in Music. I think Apple just... forgot about Big Sur users. 🤷Can confirm this workaround works, just did it. How can I fix iTunes authorization error on an older Mac?

I have downloaded music on this computer previously on Itunes, and this time it comes up and says my computer is not Authorized, so I went through the Authorization process and the message comes up and says this computer is already one of the 5 computers Authorized, but I only have 2 on my list of Authorized computers, so when I go to select the song to play it does it again, and says this computer is not Authorized and wants me to go through the Authorizing process again. So I removed this computer and put it back in as an Authorized computer, restarted my computer and it still does it. How do I fix this??? Windows, Windows 10 Posted on Feb 3, 2022 2:15 PM Posted on Feb 4, 2022 8:42 AM Repeated requests to authorize an already authorized computer for store downloads typically indicates you have corrupt or incomplete copies. Backup and then delete the tracks that won't play from your library without hiding from your purchase history. Redownload using the cloud links that should remain, or close iTunes and reopen if they don't show up straight away. While downloading click the activity widget and turn off the option that allows for simultaneous downloads. If that hasn't helped see If iTunes for Windows prompts you to authorize your computer when you try to play purchases - Apple Support.tt2

Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question. Ok, related to my last question -- my computer died, I got a new one and just downloaded iTunes onto it. I also have a brand-new iPod nano, with all of my lovely songs and playlists on it. Does anyone know how to transfer songs from an iPod to iTunes? I downloaded a program, iPod2PC -- does anyone have any experience with this? I just don't want my iPod to be erased and lose it all forever!! HP, Windows Vista Posted on Dec 8, 2008 4:12 PM Dec 8, 2008 4:24 PM in response to bennett arble The only content that will come off the iPod back into iTunes that Apple supports is iTunes Store related content. If you have content from CDs on the iPod. You will need to put the CDs back into iTunes. Step 1: Authorize new computer About iTunes Store authorization and deauthorization Step 2: Transfer purchases from iPod into iTunes Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer Dec 8, 2008 5:21 PM in response to Andrew T. I don't think that's actually true. I think there's other, third-party software you can use. Anyway, I put in about 100 CDs a few years ago, and don't have the CDs any more. So I sure hope there's a way to do it! Dec 8, 2008 5:32 PM in response to bennett arble It's what Apple supports Bennett meaning what we will assist you with over telephone support or email support. Yes there maybe third party apps that do more then what I have provided. I am simply stating what I can provide you with here today. Hopefully you understand. Thanks of 1 transferring songs from iPod to iTunes
